Vitamins
As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I always suggest getting your vitamins and minerals from eating a well-balanced diet rich in whole grains, healthy proteins and fats, and tons of fruits and vegetables. Yet with busy lives and excess stressors on our minds and bodies, sometimes taking vitamin supplements can give you a boost by helping your body function more efficiently and improving your overall quality of life. Choose your own vitamin supplements or take the quiz and receive a Vitamin Assessment with individualized recommendations.

Vitamin D is both a nutrient and a hormone. It is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps to build strong bones, reduce cancer cell growth, control infections, reduce inflammation, and may help enhance weight loss and decrease body fat. Approximately 42% of the US population is deficient in vitamin D. I generally recommend Vitamin D3 5000 IU daily.
Magnesium is another nutrient with many functions. It may help lower blood pressure, reduce stroke, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 Diabetes, improve bone health, relieve anxiety, prevent migraines, and reduce symptoms of PMS. Approximately 50% of the US population is deficient in magnesium. I suggest Magnesium Glycinate 225-420 mg daily.
If you are among the many Americans who don’t consume enough fruits and vegetables each day (minimum of 6 full servings), you may experience an array of gastrointestinal symptoms such as gas, bloating, constipation, and general GI discomfort. A targeted Probiotic can help to ease symptoms and promote GI health. And let’s not forget that approximately 70% of the immune system is located in the gut so it is critical that we take good care of our digestive system. I recommend a multi-strain Probiotic GI twice daily.
If you generally skip meals or do not eat a balanced diet, you will benefit from a high-quality supplement that contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to promote overall wellness, as well as targeted eye, cognitive, and cellular health. Try Pure Encapsulations O.N.E. Multivitamin once daily.
If you have been experiencing frequent illnesses, allergies, or have a compromised immune system, you should consider Pure Encapsulations Balanced Immune once daily ongoing or twice daily during times of excessive stress, lack of sleep, or exposure to illness. You may also consider Quercetin 500 mg once daily and Zinc picolinate 30 mg once daily. These nutrients support cellular health and the immune and cardiometabolic systems.
The average American consumes nearly 500 alcoholic drinks per year. Social drinking is the norm, and many people consume several drinks after a long day at work to unwind and get their minds off of life’s responsibilities and stressors. Participating in meditation and other mind-body activities will naturally decrease alcohol intake. Yet, if you consume alcohol several times per week, absorption of nutrients is inhibited. Adding a B-Complex once daily and Zinc picolinate 30 mg once daily is an excellent idea to maintain health. If you have noticed shortness of breath and persistent low energy, you may be deficient in vitamin B-12. I suggest Pure Encapsulations vitamin B-12 liquid 5,000 mcg once daily.
